The Permission Slip You Didn't Know You Needed

Whether it's your workout routine, your eating habits, or the way you take your coffee, consider this your permission to throw out the rules and do it your way, sis

Get Out of Your Comfort Zone

When you do something the same way for so long, it just feels cozy, it feels comfortable, it feels safe, right? When something is very ingrained in you, it's a habit. It's something you don't really even have to think about doing. It just feels comfortable. There's really no other word for it, right? It just feels so comfortable. And I think that is a good thing.

I also think there's something to be said for switching things up and leaning into your intuition. Listening to your body and listening to your feelings. Ask yourself what am I meant to learn from this? What are my feelings/my body trying to tell me? And how can I really do what my body and my heart and my mind needs?

I wish I had done this so much sooner. I was so rigid with a lot of my beliefs and thoughts and I just feel this massive shift in my being. I feel this massive shift in the way I coach women. I feel this shift just in the energy of me and what's around me, of we get to make the rules. I don't have to play by anybody else's rules and neither do you.

It's Time to Stop Playing Small

For so long, we were taught to go with the flow. We're taught to be quiet. We're taught to be small. We're taught to not rock the boat, to not cause a wave, to not go against the grain. But I'm here to say, fuck that. I think it's time to go against the grain. I think it's time to speak up. I think it's time to be loud. And I think it's time for you to do things in a way that makes sense for you and feels good for you. That's what I'm doing. And that is the energy that I am bringing into 2023.

A Few Ways I Threw Out the Rules

1. I started putting heavy cream in my coffee (omg)

I know! This sounds so silly! I'd been following the strict rules of intermittent fasting, and I'd only believed and taught that you had to drink coffee black. I did a little more research and found that a tiny amount of heavy cream (for my particular goals) did not hinder my fasting and it actually is helping me in the long run.

2. I Altered My Fasting Window

I used to fast longer hours and I didn't feel like I was getting the nutrients that my body needed. And I'm still trying to find that perfect balance of fasting hours, because I do really enjoy closing my window at a certain time, usually around 7:30 or 8:00, (if we're not out on a date night drinking hello) I've got a shorter fasting window between 12 and 14 hours most days, but I'm eating three solid meals a day, and that feels really good to me. I'm eating a really high protein, high fat breakfast, and that feels good. And then I'm eating a really solid lunch full of protein and fat and fiber, and then the evenings are a mixed bag. I feel like giving myself the permission slip to pivot and change, to do what feels good for my body was so fucking liberating. I mean, can I get an amen? If this resonates with you, please send me a DM. Permission to pivot. Permission to change your mind, sister. If you're curious about intermittent fasting, I've got you covered here.

3. I joined a gym (shocker!)

I miss people! I miss being regular at a brick and mortar gym. Since I work from home and see all of my 1:1 coaching clients virtually, I rarely get other adult interaction. This may resonate with you if you are a stay at home mama, too! I recalled back to some of my fondest memories and ways I enjoyed socializing on a regular basis, and my gym friends were one of those ways! So, despite the fact that I said I was never stepping foot into a gym again (hello we created an epic home gym in our new house) I felt the need to change. I felt the need to pivot. THAT. IS. WHAT. I. DID. And I love it! I'm so happy I did!

Where Do You Need Permission to Change in Your Life?

I don't know what other ways you need permission to change or to pivot in your life. Maybe it's a new way of believing or thinking. Maybe it's questioning what you've always believed just because that was the status quo or because that was what you were taught growing up. Maybe it's your career. Maybe it's your side hustle. Maybe it's your extracurriculars. Maybe it's the way you fuel your body. Maybe it's your relationships. Maybe it's your relationship with yourself. You have the permission to do it your way and you have the permission to do it different than anybody else. And that is really the energy that I want to take into 2023. How about you?

Working With Me = Doing it Different

If you're considering working with me, just know we're going to do things differently. We're going to do things against the grain. We're going to do things that work for you. There is no more cookie cutter. There is no one size fits all. That's not the way it's going to be. If you want to do things differently, I encourage you to follow people on social media that do things differently. Unfollow people that trigger you. I implore you to really listen to your inner self, your inner guide, your intuition. She will not lead you astray. Lean into the people that support you and lean away from the people that trigger you and that maybe are a little bit toxic for you. People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. And it's okay if those friendships change. It's okay for things to pivot. There's something so powerful about leaning into your power, leaning into your knowing and doing it your own way.
